News Literacy

My definition of news literacy is “staying up to date on news by following credited sources and being informed about current journalism trends to ensure that one knows real news from fake news.” I created my definition with help from this Columbia Journalism Review article.

I went with this definition because I feel that if someone stays up to date with the news, they will be able to tell a false story from a real one since they will be following sources that are not going to deceive them.

Also, if the person is staying informed about journalism trends then perhaps they can tell when someone is falsifying information, especially when they are browsing the web looking up a news story.

Specific to the news part is just staying up to date with the news.
